Contest Rules

Welcome to the 2009 Portland Pie Off. We learned a lot from our 1st annual Pie-Off in 2008, and this year we are bit more clear in the rules and how the Pie-Off works. Because of the popularity of the Pie-Off last year, increased insurance requirements and because we are under strict rules through Portland Parks and Recreation for the use of their facilities we now have the following rules.

Still, the idea is to have fun! Bring your friends and family. We do suggest some of the following:

• Show up early and on-time. We are on a tight schedule and we can not accept late entrants into the pie contest
• Bring a picnic blanket, beverages and snacks. There will be a couple of hours between the judging and when the winners are announced.
• You might also want to bring some lawn games, books or other entertainment
• Please leave your canine friends at home. We love dogs, but it’s already crowded enough and dogs and pie just do not mix.

RULES

The Pie-Off is open to the public. Each contestant can enter as many pies as they wish. A separate entry form and recipe card must accompany each pie. By participating in this event, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and decisions of the judges. Entrants will agree to release the City of Portland, the Portland Pie Commission, the organizers of the festival, the pie judges, and all who participate in the production of this event from any liability without limitations.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
